NYSIA Monthly Meeting: "The Silicon Alley Beat: Coverage of NY High Tech"
Are you getting all the press coverage you would like for your company? Do you know what the press likes to cover and what it doesn't?
A large number of reporters cover Silicon Alley and Silicon Alley companies. All of the local dailies have assigned reporters, and Silicon Alley also has a vibrant "native press" consisting of email newsletters, Web sites, and several monthly magazines. Are reporters and journalists doing a good job in covering the industry? Do they have their fingers on the pulse of "the Alley"? What can companies do to maximize their ability to obtain coverage?
Moderator: Bruce Bernstein, NYSIA

Erin Joyce, Managing Editor, atnewyork.com
Doug Mintz, Editor, Silicon Alley Reporter

Collaborative Selling: Maximizing the Benefits of Channel Partnerships in E-Commerce
The power of the Internet as a sales channel is indisputable. As the hype
over the dotcom boom fades, the real long-term value of multiple sales
channels is revealed as one of the critical features of selling on the Web.
But in order to take full advantage of this sales channel, you need to find
great e-commerce enabled partners and develop relationships with them that
benefit you and your customers. This executive conference explores the importance of collaborative selling
and how to use it to maximize the effectiveness of e-commerce initiatives.
Highlights will include the opening keynote by Gene Domecus, Senior Vice
President of Electronic Commerce at macys.com, as well as a panel discussion
that addresses critical issues in channel management and integration.

Private investor to join us at our next Raising Capital seminar. Now is your opportunity to hear from a previously successful, self-made entrepreneur who has participated in a diversified mix of angel investments.
You will have the opportunity to directly ask the investor questions, although PLEASE do not bring your business plans with you as this is not a "pitching opportunity" nor an occasion to overwhelm our guest investor with reading material.
This is a detailed, 3 hour discussion, similar to a course.
Covers:
· How capital raising really works
· Who private investors really are
· What private investors look for in a deal
· How you can find private investors
· How best to position your company for private investors
Instructors: Ellen Sandles, Executive Director, Tri-State PIN speaks for 1.5 hours in detail about fund raising from angels, using 'real life' examples based on companies and investors she has worked with.
Follow-up speakers from McGuireWoods, Ernst & Young, and Business Plans International go into depth on specifics you should know as part of the process.
